Have you met ‘Mr. Blue’?
Master tailor Dominique Vindevogel launches his sartorial guide for the modern nomadic gentleman
Dominique Vindevogel, known as the driving force behind bespoke suit label Butch Tailors, launches a book on the importance of a well-tailored suit. Much more than a what-to-wear guide, the book covers Vindevogel’s sartorial experiences through his personal stories, favorite locations and unique tailoring tips in over more than 70 pages.
On December 13th Dominique Vindevogel presented his book Mr. Blue, a sartorial guide for the modern nomadic gentleman. The launch took place in The Arts Club, an exclusive institution in the Londoner Mayfair area. It is no coincidence that the launch of Mr. Blue was located near the famous Savile Row, known for its many bespoke tailoring services.
Couture is after all the core business of the book’s protagonist Dominique Vindevogel, the CEO of Butch Tailors - a Belgian label with a rich history. Butch Tailors is a veritable made-to-measure suit empire with about a dozen shops of its own in Belgium, clothing in numerous multi-brand outlets and showrooms in Milan, Istanbul and Mexico. But Vindevogel is best known for his internationally renowned suit service, for which he travels the world on demand of royals, self-made men and wealthy entrepreneurs who favour the service of private tailoring and personal service.
“Imperfection, as a result of devoted handwork, is the only true perfection.” — Dominique Vindevogel
A COLLECTOR’S ITEM FOR GENTLEMEN
The next step for Vindevogel is gathering his tailoring experience in a book that is much more than just a what-to-wear guide. Over more than 70 pages, Vindevogel shares his sartorial experiences through his personal stories, favorite locations and unique tailoring tips and tricks. The entire guide is beautifully illustrated with nothing but aquarelle drawings, which makes this an absolute collector’s item and reference book for the 21st century gentleman
You could wonder why the title of this guide is Mr. Blue. The answer to that question is extensively discussed in the book. For Vindevogel, there is simply no better color for a man. According to him, it is “the most modern tailoring color” and “one of trust, honesty and loyalty. Blue is reliable and responsible. Sincere, reserved and quiet. Blue exhibits an inner security and confidence.” These and more nice-to-knows, you can find in Mr. Blue. A sartorial guide for the modern nomadic gentleman.
