A new decade has started! I don’t know about you, but I definitely feel a sense of optimism and energy hanging in the air. Exciting projects, new clients, textile innovations: 2020 has a lot in store for Butch Tailors. And to top it all off: the first Mr. Blue-baby is on its way!

Yes, you read that right: the Butch Tailors-family is shortly expanding. My son and right-hand man Robin and his wonderful girlfriend are expecting a baby girl! Sometime in January – very, very soon – I will become a grandpa (or ‘papsie’ as we call it in Belgium) for the first time in my life. Now how’s that for a fantastic kick-off of the new decade…?!

Top-class watches

This delightful prospect of having our family grow fuels me with energy and excitement. It’s a great state of being to kick off the new year, that’s for sure! And what a year it promises to be. First of all: I’d like to take my collaboration with F.P. Journe to a higher level. This high-end Swiss watch manufacturer represents the same class as Butch Tailors does and I myself wear their watches with great pleasure, so as far as I’m concerned this is a match made in heaven.

Winin’ and lunchin’

Together we’ll be hosting a special lunch for potential new clients in three different locations. The first will take place in London in March. One of the best mixologists of the world has opened a bar there; just add quality wine and vintage Jaguar cars to that, and it should turn out to be a phenomenal lunch! We’ll be entertaining 10 tot 15 people maximum, so that there will be an opportunity to get to know each other one a more intimate level. Later in the year we’ll host similar events in Belgium and Istanbul – the latter being one of my new favorite cities as it oozes a cosmopolitan vibe, is a gateway to the Middle-East and people there have great taste. A unique destination, in sum. 

Miami and World Cup

Another huge project in 2020: introducing the residents of Four Seasons’ W Hotel Residence in Miami to our Gentleman’s Wardrobe-concept. This entails helping them to put together a casual chic wardrobe consisting of linen shirts and more practical trousers: perfect for the relaxed atmosphere of Miami. And lastly, the cherry on the icing: if all goes well, we’ll be designing suits for Belgium’s soccer team for the World Cup in 2022. These particular suits will be made with Nanobionic, a special kind of fabric that stimulates the blood circulation and results in better performance. Exactly what our soccer team will need to win the Cup! ;)

Of course, next to all these great projects, we’ll be improving our service even more. What can I say… ‘Perfectionist’ is my middle name and ‘you’re only as good as your last performance’ my life motto, so here’s to a 2020 in which we all may rise above ourselves!
